The Vietnam e-visa processing time is 3 working days when you apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn, and weekends and Vietnamese public holidays do not count. Through VietnamVisa.com, Standard processing takes 5 to 7 working days, and faster speeds deliver in 2 working days, 1 working day or the same day.
This guide explains how long a Vietnam visa takes in calendar days, how working days are counted, the cut-off time for each speed, how Tet and other holidays shift the date, and what to do if your application is stuck. The Vietnam e-visa guide covers everything else about the e-visa, and you can apply for your Vietnam e-visa online to see your own delivery time before you pay.

How long does it take to get a Vietnam visa?
The Vietnam Immigration Department states a processing time of 3 working days for an e-visa, in its instructions for foreigners applying online. That figure assumes a complete, correct application. A missing scan or a mismatch between the form and the passport sends it back and restarts the wait.
Three working days is a target, not a deadline you can hold anyone to. The portal does not refund the fee if an application is refused. That is the gap a paid speed fills: a delivery time stated before you pay, backed by a refund.
How working days are counted
A working day is Monday to Friday, excluding Vietnamese public holidays. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays add calendar days to every estimate, so a 5-working-day wait is at least a full week on the calendar, and longer across a holiday.
Example: you order Standard processing with us on a Thursday morning. The code counts 7 working days from the next working day: Friday, then Monday to Friday, then Monday. The e-visa is due by 18:30 Vietnam time on the second Monday, 11 calendar days later. If a public holiday falls inside that window, the date moves back by one working day per holiday.
All times on this page are Vietnam time (GMT+7), which does not change with the seasons. Convert to your own time zone before you order. Late afternoon in Vietnam is late morning in London and before dawn in New York.
Vietnam e-visa processing time by speed and cut-off
The Vietnam e-visa processing time through our service depends on the speed you pick and the time you order. The table lists each speed with its cut-off and the resulting delivery, taken from the delivery-time logic in our order system on 18 October 2026.
| Speed | Order by (Vietnam time, working day) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Standard processing (5-7 working days) | Any time | 18:30 on the 7th working day after ordering |
| 2 Working Days (Mon-Fri) | Any time | 18:30 on the 2nd working day after ordering |
| 1 Working Day (Mon-Fri) | From 7:00 | 18:30 on the next working day |
| Same day (4-8 working hours) | Before 14:15 | 18:30 the same day |
| Super Urgent (2.5 working hours) | 8:00 to 15:30 | 2.5 hours after ordering, or 15:00 for orders placed 10:02 to 12:59 |
| Weekend & Public Holidays | Before 15:40 | 18:30 the same day |
Before 8:00, Super Urgent delivers by 11:00 and Same day by 14:00. After the cut-off, both move to the next working day. The exact time for your order is shown before you pay. If your e-visa arrives after it, we refund 100% of what you paid, including the government fee, unless the application contained false information.
Prices for each speed are in our full price table. For flights tonight or tomorrow, the page on the urgent Vietnam e-visa matches each speed to a flight time.
Delivery date calculator
Pick a speed in the calculator below and it shows the date and time your e-visa is due, using the current time in Vietnam and our holiday calendar. It runs the same calculation as the order form.
If your travel date is fixed, run the calculator for two speeds and pick the cheaper one that still arrives a day before you fly.
Weekends, public holidays and Tet
Vietnamese public holidays pause processing at the Vietnam Immigration Department. The Labor Code (Law 45/2019/QH14), Article 112, sets the main holidays, and the Prime Minister fixes the exact Tet and National Day dates each year.
| Holiday | Days off under the Labor Code | Next date |
|---|---|---|
| New Year's Day | 1 | 1 January 2027 |
| Tet (Lunar New Year) | 5 | Lunar New Year's Day is 6 February 2027, exact days off set by the government |
| Hung Kings Commemoration Day | 1 | 10th day of the 3rd lunar month (16 April 2027) |
| Reunification Day | 1 | 30 April 2027 |
| International Labor Day | 1 | 1 May 2027 |
| National Day | 2 | 2 September 2027 and the day before or after |
Tet has the largest effect on Vietnam visa processing time. With five or more days off, often joined to a weekend, a Standard application filed the week before Tet can take more than two weeks on the calendar. During these days our Weekend & Public Holidays speed still runs. Our guide to public holidays and Tet lists the government's holiday schedule once it is announced.
Why an e-visa takes longer than expected
Most delays come from the application itself, not the queue. The portal returns applications with unreadable photos, cropped passport scans, or names and numbers that do not match the passport, and each round of corrections adds days.
- Photo: Shadows, glasses, a colored background or a low-resolution image. See the photo requirements.
- Passport scan: The two lines of code at the bottom of the data page must be fully visible.
- Typing errors: A swapped first and last name, or a wrong passport number or birth date.
- Timing: Holidays and the weeks around Tet, when many applications arrive at once.
If the portal has asked for a correction or refused the application, our guide to a rejected or stuck e-visa explains each status.
What to do if your e-visa is still pending
If you applied at evisa.gov.vn and the status still shows processing as your flight gets close, you have two options. Wait and check daily, or have us expedite a pending e-visa from $50 per person, without paying the government fee again.
To expedite, you send the E-Visa Code and the email address you registered with, and you see the delivery time before you pay. Expediting covers 1-month single-entry applications that are still processing. If you ordered with us, you can track your application at any time.
When to apply for a Vietnam visa
Apply once your dates are fixed, and at least 2 weeks before you fly if you choose Standard processing. That leaves room for a holiday or a correction. The e-visa is valid from the date you choose as your entry date, so applying early does not shorten your stay.
Around Tet, apply 3 to 4 weeks ahead. If you are already inside the 2-week window, pick a faster speed rather than hoping Standard arrives early. Check your requirements by nationality first, since some passports do not need a visa for short stays.
VietnamVisa.com is a private visa agency, not a government website. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25 (single entry) or US$50 (multiple entry). If you want a delivery time you can plan around, apply for your Vietnam e-visa online with us and see it before you pay.
Frequently Asked Questions
For our speeds, no. Counting starts on the next working day, so a Standard order placed on Thursday is due by 18:30 on the seventh working day after it. Same day and Super Urgent are the exceptions, since they deliver on the day you order if you are within the cut-off.
Yes, on a working day. Order Same day before 14:15 Vietnam time for delivery by 18:30, or Super Urgent between 8:00 and 15:30 for delivery the same afternoon. On weekends and holidays, the Weekend & Public Holidays speed delivers by 18:30 if you order before 15:40.
Yes. Standard, 2 Working Days and 1 Working Day only count Monday to Friday, and public holidays are skipped. From Friday 17:00 to Sunday 16:00 Vietnam time, and on public holidays, only the Weekend & Public Holidays speed runs.
It can, but plan around the time shown before you pay, since that is the time our refund covers. The Vietnam Immigration Department decides when each e-visa is issued, and no speed changes the approval decision itself.
You can apply as soon as your dates are fixed. The e-visa runs from the entry date you choose, for 1 or 3 months, so an early application does not cost you any days. Pick the validity that covers your whole trip.
